Dear Future Generations,
I think I speak for many of us today in 2021—SORRY! I’m sorry for the mess we left you in our timeline. We abused our planet with overfishing, pollution of our precious waters in lakes, rivers, and oceans, we caused countless creatures to become extinct, and we continued to use fossil fuels instead of finding more natural energy sources that wouldn’t harm Mother Earth. I’m sorry that you will never see the pristine waters that once existed on planet earth, the incredible animals that once lived on the Earth and in the oceans. I’m sorry that we destroyed the beautiful and life-giving rainforests by cutting and burning them to the ground. We forgot why trees were placed on the planet by removing carbon dioxide from the air and giving us oxygen to breathe. Now the rainforests are miles of desert sands. We forgot that every living thing has consciousness and should be honored and respected because we are all connected in ways we couldn't comprehend.
I’m sorry Future Generations that we didn’t think of the future children and how we were terrible examples of how to behave like adults. We told them, don’t do as I do, do as a say,” and they became confused. Instead of teaching them to love one another, we taught them bigotry, hate, and violence. We destroyed our past but learned that without a past we have no future.
Dear Future Generations, I’m sorry it was more important to have our huge homes, fancy cars, and other material things to impress our friends while turning a blind eye to the homeless, the jobless, and the hungry masses. We should have been more altruistic to those less fortunate. We forgot that we are powerful, spiritual beings first and that material possessions can’t be taken with us when we die.
I’m sorry that we left you a world where your precious freedoms no longer exist and freedom of speech which we took for granted has vanished. We should have seen all the signs, but we were too involved in our own lives to see the truth. I’m sorry that we became devolved humans instead of enlightened spiritual beings. Instead of becoming peaceful, we continued to fight among ourselves and create wars because we believed our truth was the right one, but the truth was—no one was right. We no longer treated each other as glorious beings of God, but instead, we judged, berated, and rated everyone and everything in our world.
I’m sorry Future Generations that we watched our Constitution being torn away and became lazy, self-centered, civically ignorant sheep. We ate toxic food, bought manufactured products no one needs, and turned an uncaring eye away from millions of people suffering and dying worldwide. We were thoughtless about you—the Future Generations to come. We should have listened when Native Americans warned us that what we do in the present affects the next Seven Generations. Instead of the United States of America, we became the Divided States of America because we listened to those who cared less about us and took away our freedom of speech and other freedoms. We forgot to love one another and respect each soul as magnificent sparks of God. We forgot that we create our destiny and future by our actions, our thoughts, and our words. You see, we also forgot that we have walked in another’s shoes in the distant past. We have been paupers, slaves, kings, queens, gay, straight, men, women, white, black, yellow, and red humans, warriors, and soldiers in past lives and we will again take on new bodies to grow, learn and love. You see, if we all believed in the fairness of God and that in divine order that the Darkness exists in our world to teach us powerful lessons, we would not be saying SORRY now. Everything must evolve back to the Source. That’s how souls evolve and learn.
Dear Future Generations, please forgive us for our ignorance! We are SORRY for what we have done to you and our precious blue planet!
